I want to install Windows 7 on an unallocated space made by shrinking an extended partition. The problem is that I can't create new partitions on unallocated space using Diskpart for Windows setup because the 'list partition' of diskpart does not show space. How can I solve this?

Based on my experience, the "list partition" of the Diskpart may not show space because the Windows setup cannot use the existing partition because it does not contain the required free space. You need to delete some files or partitions to make enough room, which is one of the high-risk operations for the drive. Thus, I highly recommend you leave it to the professionals - EaseUS Partition Master, a reliable tool that can help you delete the partition correctly.
Here is the simplified guide:
Note: Clone your essential data to another storage device or do a full backup to recover these data.
If you don't want to spend too much time creating partitions using Diskpart, you can retort to EaseUS Partition Master. This third-party software is also the best alternative for Diskpart. Follow the specific instruction to create new partitions via EaseUS Partition Master:
Step 1. Launch EaseUS Partition Master, right-click a partition with free space in "Partition Manager," and choose "Resize/Move."
Step 2. Then drag one end of the partition to shrink the partition and make unallocated space. Click "OK" to ensure.
Step 3. Right-click on the newly created unallocated space to select "Create."
Step 4. Enter the partition size, drive letter, partition label, file system, and other Advanced Settings. Click "OK" to begin the process.
Step 5. Click "Execute 1 Task" and "Apply" to finish.
