Can I Replace M.2 SSD Without Reinstalling Windows?

I want to replace the m.2 SSD on my laptop. Can I install a 2.5-inch SSD on my computer, copy all of the data from the existing m.2 SSD to the new 2.5-inch SSD, and swap the old m.2 SSD for the new one, and then copy the 2.5-inch SSD's entire contents to the new M.2? Would everything function as before the M.2 swap if I can accomplish that?

Yes, you can replace M.2 SSD on your laptop without reinstalling Windows. If you are in a replacement situation, you might not need to reinstall Windows because you can use SSD cloning software, like EaseUS Disk Copy, to copy your old drive to your new drive.

Cloning shouldn't be a problem if your new drive is bigger than your original drive, but you can't copy a large drive to a small drive because the new SSD may not contain all data of your old one. However, if you confirm that your new SSD can include all data of your old one, you can clone a larger SSD to a smaller one.

If you copy your data to the new drive, turn off your computer once the copy is finished and remove the old disk before rebooting. If you try to remove one of the drives after booting with both drives, Windows has been known to complain.

EaseUS Disk Copy is an excellent helper to replace or upgrade your SSD. It can also let you migrate OS from HDD to SSD or SSD to SSD and transfer the C drive to a new SSD. In addition, it can also help you migrate Windows 10 to NVME or M.2.

You can easily and quickly replace your M.2 SSD without reinstalling Windows with the help of EaseUS Disk Copy.
