Cloned My HDD To My SSD with Macrium Reflect But Not Booting

I got a new SSD several days ago and used Macrium Reflect to clone my current hard drive to the SSD. Everything seemed fine until I replaced the HDD with the cloned SSD and restarted my laptop. The laptop can't boot from the SSD. Do you know why this happened? How can I deal with it?

The issues of "Cloned SSD won't boot after cloning with Macrium Reflect" may be caused by many factors, including:

  • Incompatible drives
  • Boot sector issues
  • Incompleted cloning process
  • Incorrect boot order
  • MBR/GPT mismatch

To fix the error successfully, you can try:

1️⃣If the hardware configuration of the SSD is significantly different from the HDD, you can try to use different drives to boot properly. Try entering the Safe Mode and updating drives.

2️⃣If the boot sectors in SSD are not properly configured, SSD can't boot successfully. In this case, you can repair the booting sectors using the Windows installation media.

3️⃣SSD won't boot because an unsuccessful cloning process is also possible. You must use another cloning tool to ensure a rewarding HDD to SSD cloning. EaseUS Disk Copy is the choice for most people to clone HDD to SSD.

4️⃣If multiple disks are installed on your computer or laptop, you must set the new cloned SSD as the boot drive in BIOS. (Shut down your device, restart it, and keep pressing F2/F8/F10/Del key to enter BIOS. Rearrange the devices to ensure the SSD is the boot drive.)

5️⃣If the HDD and SSD are using different partition schemes (MBR/GPT), You need to change and convert them to use the same partition scheme. You can use a tool like EaseUS Partition Master to do it.

SSD won't boot after cloning, which is a frustrating issue. Fortunately, you can try the above fixes to solve the problem. EaseUS Disk Copy is an alternative to Macrium Reflect with robust disk cloning features. It will ensure a successful HDD to SSD cloning without any hassle.
