Moving Windows 10 from HDD to SSD means creating an exact copy of your hard drive, including all data and disk layout, to the new SSD. It isn't a difficult task when you use reliable disk cloning software, like EaseUS Disk Copy, which will help you migrate all data, including files, operating system, configuration, and other data, from HDD to SSD with simple steps. It also has a sector-by-sector clone feature to let you clone only the used space of the source HDD. Download and use it on your Windows 10 computer to clone your HDD to SSD without losing data.

Before hard drive cloning, you need to prepare some tools to make the process smooth:

  • A screwdriver
  • A new and empty SSD that is larger than the source HDD
  • A SATA to USB cable
  • A power splitter adapter cable

When you prepare them well, follow the steps to clone HDD to SSD:

Step 1. Connect the SSD to your computer. (If you are using a laptop, use the SATA to USB to connect it. If you are using a desktop, open the host chassis with a screwdriver and connect the SSD to the mainboard. Then connect the disk's power splitter adapter cable to the power supply box.)

Step 2. Initialize the new SSD. It means converting GPT to MBR, or vice versa, to make it the same style as the source HDD.

Step 3. Launch EaseUS Disk Copy, and select the "Disk mode". Choose the HDD as the source disk and SSD as the target disk. Then click "Continue" to start the cloning process.

Step 4. Boot your computer from the cloned SSD in the BIOS setting.
