I want to create a system image for my Windows 7 computer because it will break down occasionally. But I haven't yet to do it before, and I am curious to know what changes will a system image do to my system and other data. Is the system image the same as a system backup?
A system image is a snapshot of the entire system drive and all of its contents at a certain point in time. It can be thought of as a 'time capsule', capturing what your system was like on that particular day. It contains everything on your PC's hard drive, including the operating system, settings, applications, programs, system files, and all the other files stored on the hard drive.
It differs from a system backup because it includes everything in your computer's operating system that you may have installed or changed since buying the device. By contrast, a system backup will usually back up what was on the computer when it was purchased - this may not include changes you have made since then.
When creating a system image, what changes will be made to your computer depend entirely on what you choose to back up. The image will contain what you have chosen. For example, if you choose to back up the C: drive and a few programs, what changes will be made are that those files and programs will be saved in an image file on another device or location of your choice.
To create a system image, you can use a variety of utilities and programs. EaseUS Todo Backup is one such program that offers an easy-to-use interface and fast, reliable system image creation. It allows you to back up what parts of your computer you want and create an image file containing all the selected files.
If your hard drive crashes, or your computer is attacked by a virus, the system image will help you restore the system to what it was when the image was created. With EaseUS Todo Backup, you will also be able to selectively restore particular files or folders from an image file as well.
