Introduction
Seagate DiscWizard, created by Acronis, is a Seagate and Maxtor hard disk program. You may download it and use it to backup or clone the disk, move the hard drive to another, recover from a catastrophe, etc.
It is practical and simple to use as a disk cloning tool but has limited functionalities in several ways. Worry not - later in this article, we will provide a Seagate DiscWizard alternative. Keep on reading to know more!
What is Seagate DiscWizard for?
Seagate DiscWizard is a piece of software that may help you keep all of the information on your computer safe and secure. This software package may be backed up by the operating system, apps, settings, data, drives, and partitions.
Additionally, Seagate DiscWizard provides the ability to execute recovery solutions in a catastrophe, such as losing data, mistakenly deleting vital files or folders, or experiencing a total hard disk crash.
As a bonus, Seagate DiscWizard has a disk clone tool, which you can use to transfer all of your information and data, including the operating system and apps and your documents and personal settings, from your old, old system and apps hard drive to your new hard drive.
Does Seagate DiscWizard Work with Non-Seagate drives?
The backup and cloning software i.e., Seagate DiscWizard can help you back up the whole hard drive, including the operating system and apps. It can also create bootable rescue discs, which is useful when the OS fails to boot. Seagate DiscWizard has all the capabilities and tools you need to backup, restore, and recover your data. However, some customers report that Seagate DiscWizard fails to recognize drives. You must note that the Seagate DiscWizard works only with Seagate and Maxtor drives.
Seagate hard drives come pre-installed with a disk cloning utility called Seagate DiscWizard, which allows you to clone a whole hard drive in Windows XP/7/8/8.1/10 without needing additional software.
According to a user, "When it comes to my hard drives, I've got a Seagate, Western Digital, and Samsung drives and an 840EVO SSD as my primary boot drive. My C partition was flawlessly cloned to the SSD using DiscWizard."
When you discover that Seagate DiscWizard cannot identify your drive, it might be due to one of the following reasons:
- The hard disk in question is neither a Seagate nor a Maxtor drive.
Note: Remember that Seagate DiscWizard is only compatible with Seagate and Maxtor hard disks.
- The hard drive is referred to as a dynamic disk. The Seagate DiscWizard does not support dynamic disks.
- The hard disk does not have a valid Master Boot Record (MBR). In this scenario, you may want to try reinstalling the MBR.
An antivirus program or third-party software prevents access to hard disk devices from being granted. In this circumstance, you may choose to deactivate the offending program temporarily.
How to Perform Clone with Seagate DiscWizard?
Seagate DiscWizard is integrated software that includes a clone function that allows you to move your operating system, apps, and data from one drive to another without restarting your computer. Here are some pointers on how to use this software:
Instead of cloning a single partition, the clone functionality may be used to clone the whole disk. However, it is not possible to clone the dynamic disk. The only disk that can be copied is the primary disk.
Step 1: Download and run the Seagate DiscWizard software application.
Step 2: On the left-hand panel, choose the Tools tab.
Step 3: Select the Clone Disk function from the menu.
Step 4: Select the clone mode you want to use: Automatic or Manual. And then click on the Next button.
As seen in the following graphic, we choose Automatic (Recommended):
Step 5: Proceed to the next step and choose the source hard disk from the drive list. Select the disk that you wish to clone and then press Next.
Step 6: You'll choose a destination disk and press the Next button. Confirm the prompts in the window that appears.
Professional Alternative - Try Another Disk/Partition Cloner
Have trouble cloning the disks, managing the partitions, and more with the Seagate Discwizard? – No worries, as we've got you a more powerful solution, i.e., EaseUS Partition Master.
EaseUS Partition Master has long been a popular option for a disk management application that is both strong and simple to use. It's easy to get up and running with a well-documented User Manual and plenty of on-screen help. Partition Master is just as capable as competitors when formatting, copying, resizing, moving, and managing disk partitions. It also has hardware RAID and detachable disks.
Here's the best part that makes EaseUS to the top of the list: You can merge, adjust the size, clone and copy the disk partitions within a single click!
Step 1. Select the source disk.
- Click the "Clone" from the left menu. Select the "Clone OS Disk" or "Clone Data Disk" and click "Next".
- Choose the source disk and click "Next".
Step 2. Select the target disk.
- Choose the wanted HDD/SSD as your destination and click "Next" to continue.
- Read Warning message and confirm "Yes" button.
Step 3. View the disk layout and edit the target disk partition size.
Then click "Continue" when the program warns it will wipe out all data on the target disk. (If you have valuable data on the target disk, back up it in advance.)
You can select "Autofit the disk", "Clone as the source" or "Edit disk layout" to customize your disk layout. (Select the last one if you want to leave more space for C drive.)
Step 4. Click "Start" to start the disk cloning process.
The premium (paid) upgrade provides technical assistance and the option to resize dynamic volumes. Are you planning to migrate your operating system to an ultra-fast SSD or a new hard drive? Alternatively, maybe you wish to clone or duplicate a partition? A Wizard is available for this purpose (and others) on the toolbar. And don't forget that Partition Master is compatible with solid-state drives (SSDs). Following are some of the features of the software:
- Combine two SSD into one without losing any data.
- Organize and optimize the contents of your hard drive.
- Windows will run more quickly if the operating system is moved to an SSD.
- It assists you in cloning or migrating a partition to an unallocated area.
- Easily resize, expand, shrink, and create dynamic volume.
Final Words
Seagate DiscWizard is a useful software for those who own Seagate or Maxtor hard drives. If you are not one of them, or if you are just dissatisfied with the functioning of this program, you may want to explore the Seagate DiscWizard alternative - EaseUS Partition Master.
Compared to other backup and clone software, it is also a best disk wipe software with many advanced features. It contains both the capabilities of Seagate DiscWizard and covers the program's limitations. In addition to normal operations, EaseUS Partition Master enables you to replace a hard drive without losing data, recover Windows from a bootable disk, clone a dynamic disk, and do other tasks.

I love that the changes you make with EaseUS Partition Master Free aren't immediately applied to the disks. It makes it way easier to play out what will happen after you've made all the changes. I also think the overall look and feel of EaseUS Partition Master Free makes whatever you're doing with your computer's partitions easy.

It won't hot image your drives or align them, but since it's coupled with a partition manager, it allows you do perform many tasks at once, instead of just cloning drives. You can move partitions around, resize them, defragment, and more, along with the other tools you'd expect from a cloning tool.
